My Favorite!

Merry Christmas Everybody!!! I hope all your Christmas dreams come true.

Currently Loving!

I love these books I found on Etsy! They would be great for a wedding to have people sign, or to use for photos, or even just a journal! They have a great vintage feel that I adore. Found here.

Christmas!

This is my new coat-well it will be in 5 days! Wouldn't it be cute with some long gloves, a scarf, and hat? Found it at Nordstrom!

I Wonder Why Teen Pregnancy is Up...

Everybody in the media is astounded that teen pregnancy is up for the first time in 15 years. I think that we have the sparkling examples of moviestars to thank. These are people that young girls idolize, and now more than ever before, having a baby is cool. They should really consider how they are affecting the lives of these girls and lead by example. I realize it's their decision, but really?

Here are the women we look up to, all pregnant out of wedlock:

Angelina Jolie
Halle Berry
Nicole Ritchie
Amy Adams
Jaime Lynn Spears
Jessica Alba
Katie Holmes-Cruise
Selma Heyack
Keisha Castle-Hughes
Keri Russell
Helena Bohnam-Carter
Charlotte Church

Found!

I finally found my navy blue nail polish! I found it at Beauty Express in University Mall! It's called Russian Navy by O.P.I.!

Look who's getting married!

My sister gets married in 9 days, 9 days! Look at those adorable girls, I was so proper.

P.S. The bride is the one with pudding all over her face!

Another tag!

Brittany tagged me!

1. wrapping paper or gift bags?
I prefer the look of paper, but I'm a bag person. I just don't have the time or Patience to wrap all those gifts!

2. real tree or artificial?
I think I like artificial better. Real smells good and all, but they just don't look as healthy and robust. They are also high maintenance-who has time for pine needles and watering?

3. when do you put your tree up?
Usually after Thanksgiving, this year we were way delayed...SOMEBODY decided to get married 3 days after Christmas!

4. when do you take it down?
I like to leave it for a while, but my parents always made us take it down right after. One year my mom started taking it down Christmas day! Seriously, she will try to sneak stuff downstairs all day; the stockings, relief society knick-knacks, she doesn't think we notice. Oh, we notice.

5. hot Chocolate or apple cider?
It's a lot harder to find good cider, and chocolate is a girls best friend. Plus, you can dress up hot chocolate: Marshmallows, Whipped Cream, Candy canes, etc.

6. favorite gift received as a child?
I had a rub a dub dolly- that you could bathe, I thought that was pretty sweet.

7. do you have a Nativity scene?
Nope. My parents do though, and that's where you can find me at Christmastime.

8. hardest person to buy for?
My parents, they always ask for something dumb, such as: No contention, or a recitation of a poem.

9. easiest person to buy for?
My sister Melissa, I just find something I don't like. Sorry M.

10. worst Christmas gift ever received?
A belt. Just imagine unwrapping that at the age of 12. "Yesss! A belt..."

11. mail or email Christmas cards?
Snail mail- There isn't anything more exciting than getting mail that somebody actually put forth the effort so you could see how they care.

12. favorite movie?
Meet Me in St. Louis, hands down.

13. have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Definitely. Just because it isn't right for you doesn't mean is isn't for somebody else!

14. favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Scones. Or all the homemade candy! My grandmother makes amazing turtles and panoche!

15. clear or colored lights?
I like the clear- they have a more elegant whimsical feeling. The colored lights make it feel like a circus. They could be cool in like a kids room though...

16. favorite Christmas song?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas- the Judy Garland version.

17. travel or stay home?
Stay at home, it's more comfortable.

18. can you name all the Santa's reindeer?
I believe I can!

19. angel or Star?
I like an Angel, anything that makes Christmas more about Christ and less about gifts.

20. favorite Christmas memory?
I love our annual night before Christmas parties with my dad's family.

i now tag Elizabeth & Melissa.

A tag that is actually interesting!

I saw this on Lyn Chapman's blog and loved it so here we go!

if you owned a bookstore what would you name it: The Whitspit. Or Skin and Beans.

which literary hero [male or female] would you like to be:
Scarlett O'Hara, I love her attitude- sassy. She's the only girl that caught Rhett's eye! Anne of Green Gables(just like Lyn!) is another option.

if you were given the chance to be born in a different decade which one would you choose:
1910-Back when our Nation was booming and where women only wore dresses.

who would play you in a movie:
Sophia Bush, but that's mostly wishful thinking... Realistically- Queen Latifah

what was your favorite toy of all of time:
it's one of those trays where you put in different plates, and rub a crayon over it and it makes a picture? Anyone know what that is called?

what do you like to collect:
watches. vintage prints. coffee table books

what is your guilty pleasure:
I love to buy DVDs, I get nostalgic and indulge myself too often. I have seasons 1 & 2 of Fraggle Rock and Tailspin. Silly, but if anyone sees Gummi Bears let me know?

if you had the power to change one thing in this world what would that be:
No debt.

what is your most embarrassing moment:
When Gary saw me in my Green Knickers! Mortified.

what is your favorite movie:
this is such a tough question! Anne of Green Gables or Empire of the Sun.

what is your favorite vegetable:
Cauliflower-yum with a little cheddar and peas!

tell 3 things about yourself (2 true, and 1 untrue ) and see if we can figure out which is fantasy:
I never re-read a book. I love both Action/War/Adventure movies(boy movies) and romantic comedies(chick flicks). I broke both of my arms within 3 months of each other.

I tag: Melissa Tanner and Elizabeth Gosney

Tis the Season!

'Tis the Season for the outpouring of sweets. I'll just list a couple of the scrumptous gifts we've gotten at Robinson Construction.
All the things I'm trying to stay away from:

Almond Toffee-the best ever...not joking.
Cheryl and Co. Gourmet Cookies (I ate the Christmas Tree sugar cookie, sooooo good.)
Truffettes of France
Danish Butter Cookies
Fresh Baked Bread with Jam
Doughnuts
Bagels

Not to mention the cards. I have about a million cards all over my desk area! Picture to follow!

Currently loving!

Going to work! How many people can say that they love their jobs! Everyday I get to wake up and see people I actually like! Not to mention the break room is better stocked than my apartment. So when I pop open my morning Kern's Mango Nectar, I remember why I love my job!

Opera. If you couldn't tell from former post. I'm very into Carmen, a little generic I know. I just can't help myself. I've been listening to Luciano Pavarotti, Maria Callas, Puccini, and others for days! Especially being alone at the office, so I can blast Rigoletto!

Artwork. My friend Angela Divine is always painting water colors at my apartment! They are so beautiful and she is very talented. Maybe if I buy a canvas she'll paint something for me. She paints with great colors and patterns, the colors are like iron oxide, that glaze that turns blue and red.

The August Rush Soundtrack-how else would I get to listen to Jonathan Rys Meyers Sing? Although there are so many good tracks I can hardly decide!

My sweet little Jared singing Christmas carols! Now that is pure joy.

Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma

Probably the most gorgeous thing I've ever heard! People say you can see the fear in Luciano's eyes before the high and the relief when he reaches it. Having been harassed off the stage at a concert in Italy for missing the note.

Loving Jack & Lulu!

I'm in love with paper! Jack & Lulu make it fun, I just bought the yellow lattice stationary and I'm already running low! Guess I'll just have to order some more! I think this time I'll go with the Aqua at the top!

Early Christmas!

Sometimes you get carried away and buy things for yourself when you are supposed to be buying for others! Just like I did when I happened upon Buckle and fell in amour with this plaid jacket! I should be banned from the mall!

They picked Edward!

More Twilight excitment! Robert Pattinson has been chosen to play the part of Edward in the movie! He's not my first choice (he was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter) but I'm sure he'll do Edward justice.

More fun finds!

I just love J. Crew! The jewelry is amazing!

Sex and the City Movie

"Hello Lover!"

Hang time y'all.

At Robinson we are currently shipping these out to our Business associates for Christmastime! I'm a little jealous. Yum!

Haircut from Hell!

I did something stupid, on a crazy whim, I chopped my long hair. Yes I'm going to be one of those girls who laments the loss e'en though it was my own fault. It is somewhere between bad anchor woman and bad soccer mom. If I was secure I'd post a picture, but it's that bad...really.

Lesson learned: When chopping hair go to competent stylist.

Souvenir gifts!

Aren't souvenirs great? Even though I didn't get to go to Cabo my parents brought me back some great blue and white bowls and a hammered silver ring! Love it!

Follow up!

Hey everybody! I realized I never followed up on the job thing! I did get the job with Robinson Construction! I love it so far! It's a great company, and I like everybody that I work with! Don't worry I'm not doing any real construction work; think more along the lines of accounts payable!

11.30.2007

Today:

I saw fog rolling over the mountains in preparation for the storm.

I heard the high pitch whine of the drill cutting through my desk in search of escape.

I smelled really delicious cinnamon almonds really permeating the air.

I touched the soft mushy grip of my new pen as I check invoices.

I tasted a smooth creamy chocolate mint truffle melting in my mouth.

Yuck!

I saw this on Lauren's page! I just had to do these myself. Total nightmare, although not as bad as hers!

1 clean bathtub
a remove all hard water build-up and soap scum from shower and tub walls, floor, fixtures and faucets. Razor blade is encouraged.
2 wash shower curtain in both bathrooms
3 clean toilet
a this includes all stains in the bowl, toilet seat, under the seat, base of the toilet and chrome and plumbing fixtures.
6 Sweep and Mop the floors.
7 Clean the sink and mirror and countertop
a Remove all hard water build-up, soap scum, and hair from the sink, faucets, and fixtures.
21 Vacuum the carpet. Make sure to get under the bed and edges.

This totally made my day!

Linnea Sinclair commented on my blog! I love her! Her style of writing is so appealing, and hugely entertaining! Thank you Linnea!

Another guilty pleasure.

This book comes out today! If you know me then you know that I'm dying for Down Home Zombie Blues, if you thought it sounded sci-fi (and the cover obviously implies romance), then you are right, hence my chagrin. Can't help what you enjoy I guess.

New flats!

These are my new ballet flats, I love them! Comfortable and dressy too!

I'm back!

Sorry about my lack of blogging (if any of you read this!) my new schedule is a bit insane really! Those of you do I hope you'll have well fun!

More great jewelry!

Great, something else I want! I love this site called loungeluxe! Great stuff there!

The Bucket List - trailer

I don't usually like Jack, but this looks pretty decent!

My bucket list.

I saw a preview for a movie where the two main characters try to complete a list of things they want to do before they die. So these are some things I want to do!

Go to India and Africa for a least a month a piece.

Find a princess ring, my grandfather got one for my mother when she was young, it's an Indian ring with several different stones. It's not quite like the picture but you get the idea.

Write a column, hopefully a syndicated one! I'd also like to publish a book.

Go base jumping or skydiving. I really don't like heights, so this one could be quite overwhelming.

Become a master cake maker. I like to bake, and I can make a decent chocolate cake, but I want to do full out stacked, fondant decorated, piped cakes! How cool would that be!

Climb Mt. Timpanogos.

Learn to sew, not just make your kids Halloween costume sew, make my own couture clothing. A pipe dream maybe, but a dream nonetheless.

Go to school to become an interior decorator, it's a tough major!

Get skinny, hey who doesn't want to be a size 2 these days?

10 dislikes

My blog is full of things I either love or want so I thought I'd shake things up!

10 things I could do without:

10. People who say "Funner" or "Funnest", those ain't words people!
9. The crunching of cotton balls or snow, the second I hear it I cringe and all of the sudden my skin is crawling in goosebumps. Too bad Utah is full of long winters!
8. People who don't use the left lane of traffic correctly. I'll admit I'm a speeder, the left lane is the passing lane, and slow people should move on over!
7. When you loan something you love to somebody and they just trash it, so inconsiderate.
6. When people say unkind things about a friend or loved one of yours, it just isn't smart. It's going to get repeated. I'm loyal, I don't like people who aren't.
5. Dirty politics. Anybody with sense will tell you that there's no such thing as a politician with nothing to hide. So don't run a smear campaign, it only makes you look petty.
4. Backhanded compliments. It drives people crazy when you tell them they look so good for having 6 children. Jeez, exercise a little common sense.
3. Being politically correct. Life isn't politically correct, life is messy and unfair. Overcompensating by tip toeing over important issues isn't going to improve anything(e.g. the M&M campaign a few years back, they were changing the original M&M's from plain to milk. Did anybody care?).
2. I really don't like being called Whit, it's way too common to be a good nickname. Get a little creative, my youngest sister calls me Whitspit, and Melissa calls me Skinny(get it? Cause I'm not!), you get the idea!
1. I hate it when people talk about gross things, keep it too your self. Anything that relates to blemishes, flatulence, or any other kind of crudness; that is something I definitely don't want to know about!

I'm craving...

Maestro's Gelato right this very minute. I know it's ridiculously early to crave dessert, but I really want some Marscapone and chocolate, or pineapple and grapefruit (probably the later because it's only 9:30 in the morning!). I love it!

Blah to Yeah!

I absolutely loathe the standard college student approach to bookshelves! My personal belief is that books and the way you display them says everything about you!

Here are some cool ideas...

I need a good read!

I've read nothing but good books lately, but I think I'm coming to an end of my literary rope! I need some recommendations, and here are some of mine:

The Fountainhead:

One of Ayn Rand's great literary works! It's a bit of a lighter read than Atlas Shrugged(not saying much) and still completely brilliant! She is one of my favorite authors. Maybe because I like to get down and dirty with my books, highlighted and marked all over! Her character's are so amazingly multifaceted, you'll have to study them over and over again. The way Rand writes people is simply fascinating. If you don't like the deeply profound you'd be better served not to read this one!

Quote: "Don’t set out to raze all shrines – you’ll frighten men. Enshrine mediocrity, and the shrines are razed."

The Far Pavilions:

This has been called the Gone with the Wind of the North West frontier of India. I would have to wholeheartedly agree. It's breathtaking the way M.M. Kaye writes of India. She makes you fall in love with India's beauty and people without omitting the darkest of the land's history.

Cross your fingers!

I'm currently on the job hunt. Something that is closer to home and has better hours. I had an interview with Raylene this morning at 10:30am. I can always tell when I'm going to get a job or not, and let me tell you I had a good feeling. Sometimes you just know when you are on, aren't those days amazing? I feel like nothing can go wrong on those types of days! Tomorrow I find out if made the first cut! I've got hope in my heart! The people seemed great, and the company is moving even closer to where I live. It's karma baby!
