Stick a Fork in Her- She's Done!

Every primary Tim tells me he's going to bring a fork to work to stick in Hillary- she's done. She has to be out. But, Alas, she didn't do quite as badly as we'd hoped- although Obama only trailed by 2 percent in Indiana and took North Carolina in what can only be considered a landslide for the Democratic Party. It's time for Hillary to conceed her losses and do the honorable thing and take herself out of the race! Hillary, of course, being a Clinton has never understood the honorable thing to do for even a fraction of a second!

I love it when Hillary Clinton screws up! In this article she blames George W. Bush for a problem entirely created by her own party's decisions. I realize that an individual cannot remember everything approved and passed by congress, but she ought to recognize some of the problems some that have arisen from DNC's policies, especially when they originate under the Bill Clinton Administration. Ah, Hillary the very paradigm of hypocrasy.

In response, the Clinton campaign said that Bill Clinton's administration had gotten assurances at the time it approved the deal that production would remain inside the United States, and that the shift of jobs to China didn't occur until under the Bush administration.

“Hillary Clinton must have been hoping we Hoosiers have short memories,” Ed Dixon of Valparaiso said in a letter to a local newspaper after a recent Clinton visit. “Her husband was president at the time and allowed this to happen.”

“They would have us believe Bush was behind this sale,” added Fred Sliger of Valparaiso in another letter, “when in fact the Clinton administration rubber-stamped this along with the sale of numerous other high-tech secrets to the Chinese. …Let's get the facts straight.”

Soooooo Stupid.

So the only reason I'm posting this is because Amanda begged me to and made me promise. For the Record I think it's silly, but she had a really bad day yesterday!

I have an inexplicable love for David Bowie (yes, Mom, I know you think he's weird). Can't help it I love him- maybe it has something to do with the several hundred times I watched Labyrinth as a child, plus, the man invented Glam Rock.

James McAvoy- he can act. He was unrecognizable as Mr. Tumnus in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Then all the sudden he's a leading man in Atonement. His upcoming role as a training asassin in Wanted looks pretty intense too!

Scott Speedman- It's probably just the after affects of my angsty crush while watching Felicity. He made Underworld fun for girls too!

Harrison Ford- The guy rocks and I don't really care that he is three times my age! Plus, do you know anyone else that can crank out a blockbuster better than Indy himself?

Christian Bale- I've loved him since Empire of the Sun (which came out the year I was born) and every movie since. I pretty sure I have them all. Surprisingly, Batman was my least favorite.

Tag You're It!

I stole this from Jessie's blog. Since I haven't done a tag in a while I thought I would!

twenty years ago I...
1) was hating life because I was no longer an only child & all of the attention was not on moi!
2) was living in the dining room because the upstairs of our home wasn't finished.
3) was a complete pain.

ten years ago I...
1) wore only glasses.
2) was in love, love, love with Spencer Funk, and Steve Nash.
3) had a class that was actually called Wolfpack.

five years ago I...
1) was a Junior at Timpview and thought I was the shiz for making Acapella.
2) worked for my father at Access Title.
3) was applying to college.

three years ago I...
1) was imprisoned at BYU-Idaho.
2) met one of my best friends Kelsey.
3) joined the GOP, I have a card and everything.

one year ago I...
1) was legal to drink, not that this has any effect on my life whatsoever.
2) went camping for the first time ever.
3) started working at Robinson Construction.

so far this year I have...
1) filed my taxes.
2) finally decided what I'm going school for.
3) chopped all my hair off.

yesterday I...
1) hung out with Natalie.
2) had no available surface area on my desk.
3) basically did nothing.

today I...
1) read my scriptures.
2) will shop for 2 birthday gifts and a bridal shower gift.
3) will continue the hair chopping craze.

tomorrow I will...
1) clean my room and finish ironing all my shirts!
2) finish everything I didn't get done at work.
3) hang out with Natalie again!

in the next year I may...
1) graduate. I know overdue.
2) buy a new car.
3) move into my new fancy schmancy apartment!

I tag...

Natalie Wakefield, Melissa Neslen, and Alyssa Williams.

I'm Too Impulsive for My Own Good

So in 3, count them 3, short months my hair has gone from really, really long to ridiculously boy short! It's weird I have this nonsensical need to do something completely out of the ordinary and crazy, I guess chopping off my hair became my outlet. Now I'm done, and will grow it out again so people will stop freaking out (Mom, Melissa, & David)! Here's the pictorial history (although I don't have any of it medium long, because I absolutely hated it):

About 13 inches later...

Goodbye another 6 inches...

I have one more picture but you'll all have to wait until tomorrow or at least later tonight!

04.23.08

So obviously I'm strapped for topics, (did anyone see my lame post about earth day, I didn't even know it was until I had to Google something) any suggestions?

It's hard to be even more disappointed in the democrats than usual, but here I am. Hillary Clinton took Pennsylvania yesterday, does anybody hate that state besides myself? It really blows because I might have to pick a new favorite football team and kiss my Steelers and Eagles goodbye. The only two teams I even kinda follow. Oh, and goodbye to cream cheese too! At least she didn't win by a landslide, right?

Man, do I hate Hillary. She's pasted all over my beloved Drudge Report! I hope all of you conservatives read the drudge it's the only place to find legitimate news without any liberal propaganda; CNN and MSNBC are both a little too liberal for my taste not that I don't peruse them anyway!

Happy Earth Day

I'm no tree hugger but remember how much we love our planet! Even if she can't make up her mind about what season it is! You can check out the entire history of Earth Day here (no lie, you really can). Some of it is pretty interesting, for example:

-In 1996, the bald eagle was removed from the endangered species list, reflecting its recovery since the 1972 DDT ban.

-In 1972, only 36 percent of the nation's assessed stream miles were safe for uses such as fishing and swimming: today, about 60 percent are safe for such uses.

-To date, more than 18 million homes have been tested for radon. Approximately 575 lives are saved annually due to radon mitigation and radon-resistant new construction.

-The number of chemicals listed in EPA’s Toxic Release Inventory nearly doubled, from 328 in 1990 to 644 in 1999.

-Today, the vast majority of American households have safe drinking water, and receive annual reports on the quality of their drinking water.

No More Nato!

Natalie is moving out of our crappy, college apartment today! Since she finally sold her contract, she is all set to move to bigger and better things in New York now! We do everything together, so even though she'll be in Utah for another 2 months this is a very sad new development! Now I'm stuck with Pei-Pei, until the summer ends and I get to move into my new nice apartment with Jen. Even more distressing is that there aren't any good pictures of the two of us together, so my camera is going to get quite the workout before she leaves!

Very sad day.

No Love!

This is what I get for working at a construction company! Nobody sympathized with my revulsion to having a drug test. Don't anybody worry, it's just Mountain Dew. Kent and Christie thought they were very clever pulling this little stunt! It probably was, I flipped out when I thought it was real!

PS. Kent you really need to shave.

4.18.08

The other day I bought Juno from Melissa, because she didn't like it! Crazy! It's pretty much a guarantee that if Melissa likes something then I won't, and if I like anything Melissa will hate it. Must be a sisters thing, it comes in handy when we want to trade movies. Although I usually like most, maybe I just have a penchant for anything and everything cinematic, and Melissa anything bad! J slash K! Juno is comedy gold, and although I still love you, although, you could use some better movie judgement!

The Pennsylvania Primary is next week. It is pivotal for the democratic nomination, if Hilary doesn't pick up this state she's most likely out of the running for the 2008 campaign. I'm sure there are a few people who will be disappointed. I'm just not one of them!

Rice Pudding

After attending a freezing cold softball game to cheer on some friends we decided we needed something warm so we went and got some steaming hot pizza. After we were done I decided that we needed some rice pudding to follow!

If you haven't been to Pudding on the Rice, go now. So delicious! We had the Raspberry, Coconut, and English Toffee. Of course they all have way cooler names than that, but I can't remember them! Jen, Cameron, Natalie and I plowed through the raspberry and toffee. Since I barely let anyone touch the coconut I still have some waiting in the fridge when I get home. Other cool flavors to try include but are not limited to: Lemon Poppy seed (you might not want to try this one if your company requires random drug screenings, like mine does), Marshmallow, and Cheesecake.

Happy 200th Post!

Man do I need a life! This is my 200Th post on my blog, I never thought I would last, and am completely surprised that I did! Oddly enough I have absolutely nothing to blog about!

Something came up! A few days ago Christie told me that I had been randomly selected for a drug test! I maybe, kind of, sort of thought she was joking so I completely forgot about it. So when she asked me if I had done it yet I was unhappy and needless to say, dismayed. Everybody knew I was not happy about it. My mom told me I probably protested too much, and now I surely looked guilty.

I couldn't help it, so disgusting and degrading. Peeing in a cup (Tim called it a whiz quiz, blah!) is definitely not going to make it into the top ten best moments! It was even worse than I had suspected. I got there and had to announce to a whole room full of people that I was there for a drug test. ME! No privacy at all, haven't these people heard of HIPPA laws? So then I had to wait for an hour wishing I hadn't used the facilities earlier that morning, and hoping it wasn't the kind where they come into the bathroom with you, and praying for a female to administer the test. I was trying my upmost to look as though I absolutely did not belong there.

Fortunately, the first thing didn't turn out to be a problem, and I did have a girl who did not accompany me to the restroom (which were completely filthy). Thank goodness! It was pretty disgusting and didn't help that I was mercilessly mocked by my coworkers when I returned to the office!

Maybe?

Urban Outfitters is so great! I think I'm going to buy this couch for my new apartment! I really love it, and I need somewhere to read. Found it here.

Change.

Utah is getting a new Area Code! Crazy, it's 385. I feel an inexplicable sadness, I like the 801, and 435 is only for far away little nothing towns. We are going to have to use all 10 digits to call people, even if they are just in Orem! Effective June 1ST, 2008! I hate change.

Random musings...

Does anybody else wonder about the top ten songs, sometimes they really, really suck.

Fall Out Boy remade Michael Jackson's Beat It; I'm definitely raising some moral objections to this. You can't remake a classic Michael Jackson song. Before Jacko was wacko, he was pretty splendiferous. For FOB to assume that they have that kind of musical clout is preposterous. It's even worse since there is no real difference to the original. I thought FOB had enough credibility without playing covers. Apparently I was wrong. This is no Sonic Youth covering the Carpenters! Write your own songs.

Do you have any idea how many great bands we miss out on because MTV and VH1 cram Mariah Carey and other R&B/Rap singers with bad grammar down our throats? Maybe I'm one of the only people who think that Mariah Carey should be ostracized; she is everything a pariah could ever hope to be. Plus anybody that has to touch her body would have to stand by her when Glitter the sequel comes out and she heads back to Meltdown phase!

Don't get me started (Whoa! Molly Shannon SNL flashback) on the JUST FOR YOU (more like just for whom?) section in iTunes, do they really think that I want Colbie Caillat? After all the indie and rock music I have, they suggest some folkie chick singer. Yuck. Yes, I have some questionable music choices (currently listening to Billy Joel's Piano Man), but nothing so vile as to suggest any song called Bubbly. I want to know why they thought I would want the Enchanted soundtrack because I own the Sweeney Todd soundtrack, blood doesn’t' really translate to singing mice. Oh, my gosh. I just saw Miley Cyrus, that's even worse; my 10 year old brother loves her. Bad iTunes. Bad.

Pick the Darn Democrat.

Jeez, it's time to choose. The Republicans did, at least we came to a consensus on that. Is it really such a hard decision to pick between two qualified candidates, they are so different it really shouldn't be hard. It's time for one of them to do the honorable thing and take themselves out. In whatever way necessary.

Iran is going forward with 6,000 P-1 centrifuges, and claims new centrifuge technology that is 5 times more capable the P-1's already in use. This can't be good for the world's super powers. What with Iran's unstable economy and volatile nature. Although these are used to generate nuclear power, they are also crucial to nuclear weapons.

The United Nations has already called for a halt, but I doubt this will stop Iran from going forward.

Also, Alan Greenspan (Former Federal Reserve Chairman) finally said that the US. is in a state of recession, I suppose I can believe the Main Stream Media now.

Weird Weekend!

I had the weirdest weekend I've had in a long while. The girls and I went out Saturday night to eat and then a movie (I had to sit through Enchanted again), the weirdness ensued afterwards. Of course I can't get into details, because who knows who reads this. Let's just say that it involves spontaneity. Since I usually try to avoid it, this is unusual to say the least.

I also have to get 2,000 flyers out by the end of the week, tons of fun for me! Some days I really hate Public Relations!

On Sunday, some friends came over to play games, then Jen, Natalie, and I watched some more Tudors, riveting I know. Somewhere over the course of the weekend I became obsessed with the song I Hear The Bells, by Mike Doughty. Love it and recommend it to everyone! It's just one of those songs that makes you happy!

Jen and I are going to sign our new lease today, so we can finally get into a nice apartment! So glad I'll have Jen to live with after Natalie leaves me for bigger and better things in New York City!

Equality for all.

So I read Ann Coulter and she raised some very good points on Obama. I just wanted to make it clear that my dislike of the Democrats extends to more than just Hillary Clinton (I equally dislike Obama).

As most of you know Obama wrote a biography (kinda young, I know). Ann Coulter compares it to Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf. Granted Ann Coulter is a little strong sometimes (although I like her, she's one of the few people loud about and proud to be a right winger and hates John McCain almost as much as I do) but she has a point. Obama comes off as little more than an angry black man albeit in serene and beguiling language, and perhaps why we are so inclined to believe that he doesn't hate white people. The book itself is full of reverse discriminatory rantings.

This is personally my favorite:

...Obama share[d] a life lesson on how to handle white people:" "It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied, they were relieved -- such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't seem angry all the time."

Although I did like this one too:

He says the reason black people keep to themselves is that it's "easier than spending all your time mad or trying to guess whatever it was that white folks were thinking about you."

In college, Obama explains to a girl why he was reading Joseph Conrad's 1902 classic, "Heart of Darkness": "I read the book to help me understand just what it is that makes white people so afraid. Their demons. The way ideas get twisted around. I helps me understand how people learn to hate."

Jeez. It's not the white folks who are obsessed with race.

To read the full story you can visit Ann Coulter's page here.

I'm lame I know.

Sorry for not posting everybody (I'm assuming people actually read this), I've been distracted, and unbelievably tired. Let's face it; the world is pretty quiet this week anyway.

Jen, Natalie, Cameron, and I started watching season 1 of the Tudors last night. We are a little obsessed (Well, not really Cameron, he was just spending time with his girl). I made a stand around 11:30 and ducked out early to get some sleep.

Of course Pei-Pei's maniacal laughter didn't help the process along. My roommates don't seem to understand that people should knock down the volume a couple notches on a weekday evening (Is there a better way to phrase that?) where some of us have to wake up semi-early the next day. Pei-Pei is the only person I’ve ever (unfortunately) met who carries on conversations at shouting volume at 2:00 in the morning! Most of you know how I feel about Pei-Pei so I'm being redundant. For those of you who didn't already know. I hate her. Harsh, you say? Whatever, I'm tired of my ridiculous 18 year old foreign roommate, who giggles more than speaks. It’s not really that funny to be completely unintelligible. I’m also really tired of blowing my paycheck on wall plug-ins and baking soda to keep the smell of un-covered, un-refrigerated, and decaying food at bay. It’s really gross food that didn’t smell stupendous to begin with either. Who doesn’t know that fresh unsheathed garlic and chopped onions must be stored in a cold area in a reseal able bag? PEI-PEI! You’d think when somebody cooks all the time, they would go to the trouble of buying some pots and pans, maybe some dishes of their own, but why? When Whitney has everything Pei-Pei needs. Keep your rotting, malodorous food outta my pans, and stop stealing my silverware!

Rant over.

I think I'm going to dub '08 as the year of the crooked politician. PM of Ireland stepped down today for making suspect deposits in the sum of 150,000 plus. Although he denies it, he is resigning so this blogger is disinclined to believe him.

Random musings...

Has anyone ever wondered if McCain is the real embodiment of the Manchurian candidate? Prisoner of war for 5 plus years, I'm just saying we might want to look into it.

Also, that drug bust on the news yesterday was sad. 85% of their clientele is from Utah County, and vastly Mormon youth. I knew heroine and cocaine were the drug of choice while I was in high school. I suppose I just expected a lower percentage.

McCain is coming to Utah.

I have to say I'm impressed. Republican presidential candidates almost never come to Utah. Apparently we are a “sure thing”. I suppose in McCain's case it is necessary, he took one vote for every 18 for Mitt Romney in the Utah state primary. I suppose it is insurance so that the Nations most Republican state stays that way! Don't forget to tune in to his speech today; it's at 11:30am. I'm sure there will be highlights on the evening news if you miss it.

McCain gave a speech yesterday in Los Angeles that was actually pretty decent. I basically consider him a democrat so I was pleasantly surprised. He said quote: “Polls increasingly show that populations are losing faith with democracy, and blame it for failing to provide security from crime and corruption or a way out of poverty." Perhaps this lack of faith could be reversed if the US returned to its roots as a Federal Constitutional Republic. Because we have democratic elections the US is often (wrongly) called a Democracy, even by our leaders. There is no truer statement then the old adage: "United we stand, divided we fall."

The United States is completely divided. There is not a common thread among the people. We are divided amongst 3 contenders, each more mediocre than the last. Where is this years Reagan? The truth is not even Republicans are interested in this political war over the Middle East. The unrest is so great, that change is crucial. Although every candidate promises this change, I doubt any of them will bring about a positive one. Although our presence is vital in Iraq, the people here at home need a better reason to be there. This is a political war. However, if we leave now leaving the country on unsteady ground enemies of the US will stake a claim. Our leaders are there to prevent power falling into the wrong hands. It is a preemptive attempt to protect our freedom as well as other Nations less capable of protecting themselves.

I feel like a Roy Lichtenstein painting.

I got a comment from somebody anonymous about remembering that politicians personal lives are private; what a load. These are publicly elected officials that have chosen to live a very exposed sort of lifestyle. It's like celebrities complaining about paparazzi. If you don't want the attention, get out of LA. I don't expect them to be perfect, but jeez, how about a little less sleazy? They are elected by the people for the people. As our elected they are expected to set an example for their constituents. David Paterson sound even shadier than former Gov. Spitzer. Pot, cocaine, affairs- is there anything he hasn't done? New York ought to be horrified that instead of trading in their morally bankrupt Governor for an upgrade, they ended up with yet another wolf in sheep's clothing.

As a person who has never even seen cocaine, why does my government official have too? I'm sure I'll be called naive, but why not ethical? Our officials should be expected to live up to the standard we set.

The Hillary Clinton debacle is equally disheartening, I mean, I always knew she was a liar, but seriously? Trying to make yourself heroic for political gain, how incredibly typical of a Clinton. (Remember all those jobs Bill created during his term in office? I belive he forgot to mention that they we all burger-flipping jobs at Wendy's.) The war in Bosnia was essentially over (we couldn't risk those great first lady pantsuits HC is so fond of) but of course there was still some unrest. Did Hillary have to make a run for it? No, she was greeted by the people and posed for photographs. I didn't hear one solitary gunshot in the background of that video, maybe I just have an untrained ear! Trying to make herself a hero is a great move, just not for her own campaign.

I had a teacher ask once why huge scandals don't shock us anymore; sometimes they don't even make the news. I answered that it's because we've seen it before, we are so desensitized that nothing shocks us. Politicians have been dubious and dishonest for most of America's history and no doubt will continue to be that way. Here's to hoping for a better tomorrow.

PS. I thought I should clarify that I haven't seen pot either! At least not in real life...

03.25.08

Everybody has been telling me what is wrong with my top movies; I'm starting to re-think them. I'm thinking V for Vendetta should be in there, or Equilibrium. I don't know. It's probably just too hard to narrow it down that far!

I'm also on a caffeine buzz; I woke up this morning so tired that I popped two Excedrin before 8:00am! Cheating, I know; but I was so tired! Plus, I find that caffeine is absolutely necessary to go to the post office in the morning. I hate that place. Since I have to go every mornin' I just needed a little push. I could tell I was going to need it. The Post Office also told me that we at Robinson needed a bigger box, I was grateful for that. It's rather a pain, to try to dig large manila envelopes out of our smallest sized PO. Box! I don't usually don't require the caffeine so don't worry about me having a Jessie Spano episode!

It's also a wonder I'm not devastatingly depressed. All day long at work I watch CNN. Although, sometimes when Eric is gone I switch it off, there are just so many times a day I can stand to hear that the world is ending.

More great, but completely superfluous information, I finally figured out how to do my hair! It was really stressing me out that short hair was harder to do than my long hair. Never fear, it's finally a cinch!

Thursday, March 20, 2008

So yesterday I watched Gattaca whilest I waited for Natalie to wake up and Jen to come and get me to go look at our new apartment. Let's just say something is getting bumped from my top 5 (just don't know what)! It was amazing, dark, but still PG-13. I'd recommend it. N, J, and I checked out the apartment, and then stupidly made a sonic run (no wonder I feel so sick). Then we proceeded to watch yet another movie. I think I'm tired of movies. From now on we are making a plan and sticking to it! It's way to easy to fall back on something so mundane and mindlessly entertaining.

Tim says that my blog is regressing back to my old ways, but let's face it, nobody reads my blog when I write about politics! Sorry Tim, you'll just have to keep reading about my clothes, movies, and haircuts! TTYL, WT.

My Top 5 Films that I could watch over and over again.

1. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof- Who doesn't love Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman? Taylor's pout and Newman's blue eyes, you just can't deny their white hot chemistry. The acting is superb and has to be, because the majority of the film takes place in one room. This isn't exactly a date movie though. It's kind of that dark movie that makes you reevaluate.

2. E.T. - Some people won't understand this one, but I think it's a beloved classic (at least to me). Every time I watch it I cry, laugh, get scared. It's perfect, with the writing, the acting, and who doesn't love a good bike chase? I always expect E.T. to be in my room when I'm trying to sleep, and as much as I love him, it freaks me out.

3. Anne of Green Gables - I'm a girl so how could I not include this? She's the person every young girl wants to be; adventurous, opinionated, and fiery. She wins over everyone in this Canadian classic.

4. Star Wars (Original 3) - I'll admit it...love 'em! Great stories, blazing new technology, and Harrison Ford. The perfect recipe for success! The Indiana Jones trilogy was close, but I really hated Temple of Doom!

5. Juno - I desperately love to laugh so I needed a comedy on here! The writing is amazing, fresh and witty. It's a trendy comedy and in a few years I'll probably rue my choice (Napoleon Dynamite anyone?) but for now, it's laugh after laugh and I love it!

So I'm sure you noticed!

Not everything I blog about is serious, but eh, what can you do? I think as long as I have a couple o' serious ones thrown in there I'll be alright!

Rats, I totally forgot my camera cord so you'll all have to wait on more pictures!

Postscript: Whoever David is - identify yourself, I know a lot of you!
Okay, you don't have to, but I'd like to know!

Apparently politics have given up trying to even appear ethical. New NY Governor David Patterson and his wife have both admitted to having affairs, and he's only a day into office! What do the people of New York have in store? Fasten your seat belts it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Random thoughts...

Friday, September 21, 2007

Here's what I thought (or rather hoped) people were saying about me at:

Age 16: "Hey, Look at that girl driving the minivan." "Wow, she is way to cute to be driving that!" "I know, she must have really spiteful parents." "Seriously, she could be driving something so much cuter."

Age 18: "Hey, Look. She's wearing a "VOTE" pin. Isn't it great when one so young cares about politics, and our elected officials." "Yes, it really shows character, very refreshing."

Age 20: "Look at that chick, she's reading the New Yorker. Any girl that reads that instead of the latest People or Cosmo must be really smart and care about what is going on in the world." "Definitely, smart girls are way hotter than leggy blondes."

Age 22: "Hey, Look. Black nail polish, very in." "Yeah, she must stay up on all the latest fashions." "Totally, she is so completely vogue. You can tell she's not a goth at all, because the celebrities wear black too!"

Things going to be added to my wardrobe very soon!

I can't seem to get enough of Boden clothing! My other pieces worked out so well, I'm purchasing a few more!

Lalalove...

So I met Micky Dolenz, not only did I make him pose for a picture with me, but I may have bought a cd and had him sign it! I feel much better about this as of late, discovering the Diablo Cody, writer of Juno, has almost an identical shot on her blog! As she so often does, she made this incredibly geeky thing (me) cooler than before. How bad can I be if a totally cool oscar winner has the same cheesy picture? Now I am quite proud. I know. I know I’m a huge dork, and my hair looks really, really (excruciatingly) bad curly. At least I know now to never do my hair like that again. Love you Micky!

So tired...

Eliot Spitzer stepped down as the Governor of New York today. Yet another example of how our political system is crumbling. Is there no office sacred enough for these corrupt men to respect and honor? Forget the pain he has already caused his family, he killed his brilliant political career in one fell swoop. Spitzer was rumored to have presidential aspirations. As an ethical person I want to know when the U.S. is going to say enough to these Clintonesque politicians. I'm always surprised at the women who stand by them, Silda Spitzer stood stoically by her husbands side at both press conferences. I always know why they don't slap these men upside the head, they just stand idly by; I realize they are public figures, but a little emotion would be a refreshing change.

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

So this is totally not serious, but I'll live.

I'm addicted to cutting my hair! Now it's really short, some would say boy shot. Kind of a stupid picture, but I'm sure some cuter pictures will follow!

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Yes, my blog is sophomoric.

To remedy this I'm overhauling it. No more silly posts about shoes, baking, or anything that will make my blog seem "high school". This also means fewer posts, because I have very few intelligent thoughts roaming amongst all those shallow and trivial ones. So don't harangue me- I'm trying to be smarter, or as Amanda would say "smartical".

Best Joke

I got this from Tim- it's brilliant!

G. W. Bush and Bill Clinton somehow ended up at the same barbershop. As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were both afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics.

As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Clinton in his chair reached for the after shave.

Clinton was quick to stop him saying, 'No thanks, my wife Hillary will smell that and think I've been in a whorehouse.'

The second barber turned to Bush and said, 'How about you?' Bush replied, 'Go ahead, my wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.'

We're back!

So I like really random pictures, and love architecture. Bear with me.

This was a gorgeous lighthouse in Key West. It was pristine (although a really long climb...) and had an amazing view with The Hemingway House just across the street, and views out to the ocean! I took a million pictures outside and inside! Love lighthouses!

We just love Jared and all his rolls! He was preparing for his first snorkel! I don't think he did very well, but aren't those flippers adorable? The Stingrays scared him to death! The next one is the boys at Grand Cayman- they look a little like the Stooges!

This last one is pretty disgusting- the boys eating live conch- yes ALIVE! Our guide cleared them out of their shells and Scott and Matthew took a bite out of them with those poor animals looking at them (shudder). Of course, they made sure Daniel the guide did it first.

Love this room!

So quintessentially me! Bright white with a pop of red, gorgeous bookshelves (I have so many books I have two boxes full in the trunk of my car I just couldn't fit in my tiny apartment), and the great minimalist, clean feeling! I love the giant mirror (bet that was fun to hang!), and the plain lighting. Very chic! Found on Black Eiffel.

No Fidel, No Fidel, No Fidel!

Wouldn't it be absolutely fabulous to go to Cuba this week! Just after one of the worlds most famous Dictators stepped down? I'll just be circling around this gorgeous island for a week! Hopefully I'll find time to take a daytrip to Cuba!
I'll be hitting: Cozumel, The Cayman Islands, Key West, & Jamaica!

Too bad it's illegal because of the Cuba embargo! Silly U.S. trying to tell me where I can and can't go. Does anybody else think that this violates my rights? Haven't they heard Fidel is done!?

Decide on a traveling oufit.

I cheated...

These were my pretty valentines cupcakes! Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, and cinnamon hearts for decor, I sprinkled some of them with edible snow. Sometimes I just have to bake, despite my dislike of Valentine's Day. Thanks to my brother-in-law Scott for helping me take the pictures, I'm kinda dense when it comes to photography! Oh yeah, Melissa did teach me how to frost pretty! Although, I already knew I was going to pipe it on.

I'm off to the Caribbean next week!

Adios! I'm running away. Don't worry people who read my sad blog, I'll be back with all new blogging material! Alas, only for a week and I'll rejoin you.

Yeah Baby!
